Fan controller / "concentrator"

I think I'm being a complete noob here but hopefully you can set me right. I want a fan controller, so taking a 4 channel fan controller I can control 4 fans or 4 sets of fans?

Question is how do I make a set of fans? I assume I can daisy or (preferably) get some form "concentrator" where the fan controller connect to that and I can control a set of fans, if so where do you get these from can't seem to locate them for the life in me?!

You'll need one of these or similar - A fan splitter.

I'm looking for something a little more elegant if you like. A quick search throws up fan hubs. I'd like to achieve -

fans for radiator 1 -> fan hub 1 -> fan controller channel 1
fans for radiator 2 -> fan hub 2 -> fan controller channel 2
etc.

So the fan hub will need to give a rpm reading.

How many fans are you using and how many groups do you want?
What motherboard do you have?
