hi,

I'm in a bit of a quandry I have two CPU fans connected to a fan controller via the CPU pwr output on my asus p6t m/b e

however I can control all the other fans I gave connected to the the controller which are connected on diff channels. however the CPU fans run at 100% all the time. I've had a look on the bios and changing the settings in there have no effect

nope well asus has a fan controlnprogramme that come with the m/b thst let's you control fan speeds through the desk top but that just registers at 100% for everything too

Hi Tealc,

The first fan splitter is how it is currently connected. I have it connected to the cpu fan header -

The layout is....

cpu fan header ---x2cpu fans connected with a Y connector which is then in turn connected to a zalman mfc2 fan controller which supplies the power and should allow me to adjust the fan speed, however it doesn/t

with the y connectors which I have, one of the branch off cables has three wires connected and the other only has two? does this matter? when i say this i mean the actual cables themselves

With the splitter only one of the fans has 3 wires as the extra wire is for speed measurement.

I'm having a hard time working out your wiring.

The Y slpitter you have only allows fitment of 2 fans and doesn't have allow a connection to a fan controller. How have you done this? More Y splitters?

If so then that will not work. You have a motherboard chucking out voltage and the fan controller chucking out voltage at the other end. It's a wonder something hasn't blown.

You could use your fan controller to power your CPU fans but would need to disconnect the red and black wires from the CPU_FAN connector, ensuring that only one yellow tach wire is getting a signal from any of the fans.
