I hope I've posted this in the right part of the forum.

Ok I noticed recently that my graphics card temps have been a little high ( 75c ) and I've had the odd lock up and graphics artifacts stuff going on. So I sqeezed ( literally ) an extra fan in to cool everything off at the expense of noise. Now it would be nice to be able to power up and down this fan, and tbh all the fans in the case so my question is are the fan controllers OCUK have easy to install ???

I'm competent ( ish ) :-) at the inside of a case type stuff and I'm guessing you just plug all the fans into the back of the panel and it's all gravy after that.

Any help appreciated and if I posted in the wrong area...... be gentle :-)

Probably get more help in the cooling forum.

But yes, generally just put them in a spare slot, power it with a molex and plug fans straight in. Note that some contollers only do 7v to 12v so the fan is never off, but very quiet.

What g/card is it?

If the g/card is the only card you wish to have control over a fan then why dont you go for a zalman cooler for the card instead. Just an idea. :) Work really well and are near silent.

Guess it is, but Is 75degC your load temp??

The akasa fan controller is quite good, but if you want to be able to turn the fans off and on as you need them you need to be looking at the mCubed T-Balancer as that is about the best fan controller there is.

Only seen one in action, awaiting payday to get mine :D

If your heatsink is not seated right then 75 could be the idle temp, it is always worth considering these things until you know the full story :)

Well I find it is best to anyhow!

Wow thx for the help guys

I have 2 7800gtx cards in sli. They are xfx ones which are clocked at 490 / 1300.

Yes thats at full load on "busy" maps they have hit 78 and average at 70c +

78C is absolutley fine at load.

I thought it might be its just that i get occasional lock ups and often graphical artifacts showing up. Since I put the extra fan in temps have dropped, I've overclocked the card and everythings been ok.

Summer will soon be here and I'm worried that if I had carried on I would have had a problem.

I still think I will get a fan controller, just wondered If you guys have any recomendations.
