Fan controller woes

I just got this fan controller from OcUK and installed it into my pc last night.
Everything worked perfectly for an hour or so and then it developed a mind of its own, randomly spinning all 6 fans up to 100% for a second or two and then dropping them down to the level i had set. Then it would work perfectly again for another 10 -15 minutes and do it again.
I checked all the power connections and everything was fine, i spent another 2 hours or so in front of the computer and it did it once more and then behaved. I thought the problem had cured itself.
I got in from work today and went to my computer and none of the fans were spinning a quick check of HWmonitor showed my temps were 85 degrees!!!! The pump was spinning like crazy and no wonder! I looked at the fan controller and altbough the fans were set to run at 25% all the lights were off.
I took the side panel off and everything was plugged in ok, i tried a different cable and even swapped it from molex to sata but it was dead.
I have put all the fans back on the motherboard headers for now while i RMA the controller back to OcUK.
I feel lucky that i left the pump on the motherboard cpu fan header and not on the controller like i had thought about doing. It could have got a lot hotter and maybe caused damage, i have got 2x 780Ti on the loop along with a 4770k.
So really what do you think i should do now? My options are get an exact replacement and hope the controller was just a fauly unit and not part of a faulty batch or get a refund and buy a different brand controller? from OcUK of course.
I cant seem to find one that suits my requirements, it must have six channels and must be able to take the 4 pin fan connections. What do you guys recommend?

Cheers

ive used the akasa ones a couple of times, and never had a problem,

for my personal rig though, i use a bitfenix recon, however, it is only a 5 channel so not much use to you :/

lamptron are pretty much the best in my experience. using the FC6 (4 chan 20w per)

I love the look of the recons, is there any reason why i couldnt use a splitter and run 2 akasa vipers from one channel?

I have had the exact same issues mate so its not you.

Bought a lamtpron fc6 and haven't looked back. Never buying another brand now.

Fc5 is also one to look at from lamtpron

I looked at the lamptrons but could tell if the would take a 4 pin fan, ive gone for a like for like replacement but if it happens again with the akasa controller ill seriously consider them.

lamptron fc's are 3pin as far as i know at least mine is only 3pin, you could use 4to3pin connectors but you obviously lose PWM control

Wouldnt need pwm anyway, the conections on the akasa controller are 4 pin but the 4th pin isnt there its just so they can fit. I suppose i could always buy some 3 pin female connections and mod the fans, ive got to braid the cables anyway.

Im gunna give akasa one more shot and if it fails i will make the switch to lamptron.
