A friend of mine bought the ZALMAN FAN MATE 2 (fan controller) for his Delta 120mm Focussed Flow Fan which he purchased from here. However the fan controller now appears to be overheating and smoking after only a few minutes of use on this fan.
Is it possible this fan needs a more specialised fan controller as the fan itself is extremely powerful, or is it possible the fan controller is merely defective?
Thanks for your help.

lol i think the delta need 3amps (i think) a mate used one with a kazemaster controller and it cooked it 2 times lol see what your controller can support on each channel :) lol delta

Just read that the fan controller can only handle up to 5 volts and the fan operates up to 13 so I'm guessing herein lies the problem.
Anyone recommend a good fan controller that can handle it?

its a current not voltage issue, if it ran at 5V it would just run slower or not at all.
whats the Amp draw of the fan at the speed you want to run it at?
