Fan Controllers...

Ok, newbie stupid question coming up....

Fan Controllers. I'm building a custom PC and it'll have 4 fans, bar the one on the CPU & Graphics Card.

When using a fan controller, am I right in thinking that I just plug the fans into the controller, and the controller into one of the fan ports on the board?

Is it that simple or have I missed something key?

Also, can I use any fans with any controller?

you plug the fans into the controller and the controller plugs into the power supply, at least they do on my model.

Yeah most fan controllers have there own power supply from the PSU, and then simply plug each fan onto a header on the back of the fan controller. Simples

It really is that simple. Fan controllers are generally 'stand-alone', in fact I don't know of one that takes it's cue from the mainboard. (I could be wrong though)

Some fan controllers come with temp probes to give you a modicum of 'auto' control.
