Hopefully a quick one..

I have one of these: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-quiet-dark-rock-tf-cpu-cooler-135-135mm-hs-012-bq.html But my case doesn't allow for the top fan to be installed.

Would it be more beneficial to have the fan in the middle blowing air down towards the CPU or upwards towards the side of the case? My thinking is that if I fit it blowing upwards, the fan will be pushing air against the fins of the largest of the 2 heat sinks which should result in better cooling?

While I can't say for sure I have found that things generally cool better with these pancake coolers when fan is moving air away from motherboard. The reason seems to be that when moving air toward motherboard air hits motherboard and turns out, hits RAM, GPU, etc and turn up past the cooling and is then drawn back into top of cooler creating a circle of heated air. When air is moved through cooler away from motherboard the cool air flows over mothboard, RAM, etc and into bottom of cooler, up thorough cooler and then moves away and out of case with other case air.
Hope that makes sense.
