fan dust , how to remove help?

Hi

Ive got a acer x1210 pc that i need to clean the fan as ive noticed a build up of dust on it as well as the heat sink behind it.

I dont have any compressed air , so was wondering if there is any other way to get rid of the dust?

i was thinking a hoover but is that safe????

Hoover + an unused paint brush.

A damp cloth or paintbrush will work fine on the fans depending how awkward the blades are to reach

also instead of compressed air (too expensive) i use a foot pump, the ones you would use to pump up a paddling pool, they are just as good and last for ages

compressed air is expensive but it is good .

I find it doesnt clean fan fins very well though - dry toothbrush is a good idea as well I have just thought of

i removed the fan as well because behind it on the heat sink it was quite think with dust as well.

did try the hoover from distance but did not really pick the dust up very well so i used a small brush too dislodge any dust on the heat sink and fan and then used my fingers to peel the layer of dust off.

Dont see how compressed air is ideal , because if you spray the fan/heatsink all the dust will get blown into the pc? or is this only to be used on the fan when disconnected???
