So looking at installing a new media unit containing amp ps3, nas and a few other bits - would like to keep a solid door on the unit but not cook the contents, looking at mounting a fan or two on the underside but not sure what equipment I need...

Ideally would have something that comes on when the cupboard reaches a certain temperature rather than being switched with a piece of equipment - is that possible?
Never really got into any cooling bits before!

Cheers

I looked into this. I was advised that having fans come on like your suggesting is distracting when say watching a movie or something. Having them on a set speed your brain just forgets about any noise they may give out as its constant.

With mine I just leave mine on 24/7 slowed down with some cables to like 7v. Maybe not the most eco friendly but I dont bother turning my AV receiver off anymore so a few extra fans are not going to make a difference. Also my NAS and router are in my unit so keeps them cool.

If i was buying new I would probably pick up some 140mm noctua fans that are nice and quiet and high quality to last a long time.

Noctua are incredibly silent!
