As opposed to one 80mm fan on it's own, would having two 80mm fans with one in front of the other imropove airflow, impede airflow or make no difference compared with the single fan?
(80mm as i have a few of those lying around, but no 120mm)


The back of my case is a bit close to the wall and I don't have much room to manouver it. With all the cabling back there the exhaust fans don't have anywhere to dump the heated air, so I was going to (somehow) put a fan (or two) at the back of the case near the top but perpendicular to draw the air upwards and out.
 
Lol, sounds like you are trying to make a compressor for a jet engine. If you need a combustion chamber you can use my hiking stove and coke can :)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the case fans are designed to not have much in front or behind them for normal operation. Adding two together may well increase the pressure gradient, but the turbulence between the blades will definitely impede airflow, hence your total flowrate will go down (bad for cooling).

If you are having problems with heat you may want to invest in a new case (80mm fan cases are pretty old hat now). This antec 300 is £45 and has good airflow and a top mounted 140mm exhaust fan - nice and cool :)
