Hey,

ever since i bought my 4870 when i turn my pc on the fan would rev up to full speed and then slow down again i thought this was normal but now it does it sometimes in windows also.

am i just worrying or is this a issue ?

card runs at like 50.C idle which i heard is below normal for some people with 4870's

thanks

It ramps to full speed in Windows? Or just goes up a bit?

50 idle is normal.

Try downclocking while idle to save energy and reduce fan speed.

well its on 40% fan speed, and just on random intervals it would sound like it rev's straight to full rev for like a second then go back to normal.

all though pc has been on for bout 2 hours and it hasnt gone up only when i turned it on did it . which i think is normal

It could be a glitch where CCC is picking up a rogue high temp reading for a split second. It's never happened to mine so I'm guessing here.

Are you running CCC auto fan control?

If so try using ATI Tray Tools or MSI Afterburner to control your fan profile as they will have different fan polling frequencies.
