Fan or no Fan, that is my question.

As you can see from the picture, my v8 is too close to put a 80mm side fan on the inside. Should I put one on the outside, and more importantly, will that help or hurt my cooler seeing how close it will be on the outside. I don't care if it looks stupid at this point I'm at 4.008ghz and would like to get maybe 2-3c cooler on load temps. Any suggestions? Thanks for all help in advance.

Sorry for getting arsey, just it's pointless having two threads on the same thing, it just spams up the forums. if you want to come back to the topic, bump your old thread, if it's in the wrong forum, RTM it, and ask nicely for a mod to move it for you.

OT, If I was in your position I'd get it straight in my head as to in which direction air will be moving. The easiest way to do this is with a diagram. A diagram will help us give you advice as to what would be best as well.

You want air to have a nice smooth path, and as I see it, air will move from left to right through your cooler at the moment. I'm assuming that there's only an exhaust to the left of the cooler, and not above, and that the fan on the cooler is blowing towards it. Is that correct? If so, I would leave the hole, as it's only going to interrupt the way that the air is moving. That said, it is worth a try if you have a fan lying around, just sellotape it onto the outside and see what temps do with it on and with it off.

I read your thread about cable ties, pretty as they are, they'll be messing with airflow, if I were you I would do some cable managements, and get as many of your cables as you can tucked away, so that they aren't stopping air from moving inside the main area of your case.

Yeah I took care of the cables, and I do have a fan directly above my v8 in the psu that actually moves great air. Its a NZXT 600w. Nothing special. I was just curious as to if it would mess with the current airflow to mount one on the outside blowing in. I have cut the flow off completely, and it raised the temps ever slightly.

And sorry for the double post. I hate spam. I'm still getting use to the threads as I use to blog and not so much on threads. Thanks for the help.

Cheers!

Before getting worked up and trying to upset a new member to the forums, you might want to suss out how they actually work yourself. You can't RTM your own threads. The better option would have been to just RTM one of the posts so the mods can sort it out. Instead, you came across like an arrogant ass.

It seems I'm agreeing with everything you post today Memphis. Lol.

I think that you'll find that you can RTM your own posts, you press the little

and then type a little message to the moderators. I'm sure that Ninja Please! is grateful for your input into the thread though.

Memphis, thank you for understanding I am new to the forums. Once again, I will refrain from posting any more threads, and try to refrain from commenting a lot. I get the feeling I'm not really welcome here anyway, I'm too gay for having case badges lol, and apparently I must be between 7-13 years old. I thought we were all here because we all enjoyed the same hobby.

Don't worry about it mate, some idiots on this forum, a lot of good people as well.

People have conflicting opinions, if you like case badges then good for you, don't feel bad if someone flames you. :)

My advice would be to just try it and see for yourself if it makes a difference. You can always just unscrew it again if it doesnt make any difference or you decide it looks hideous.

PK!

In my opinion a side brining in fresh air may work well but would look a little out of place because it will be mounted on the outside. The cable for the fan might also be a problem seeing as it may not be able to get through unless you made some sort of hole.

I know what your talking about because i used to have the same exact case:

For me a 80mm fan there would have made pretty much zero difference, expect add noise and dust. ;)
