so i'm onto cables with the new system and i've realized that the system fan has a 3pin header but the Mobo doesn't have a 3pin slot.... can you get converters or can i just not use the case fan....

ps: with the k2 mount doom you have the two fans, which goes into the fan cpu slot and which goes into a sf slot

Make and model of the mobo would be helpful for the first one, however I suspect that you mean that your mobo has 4 pin PWM headers instead of 3 pin.

For the second bit, have you considered a splitter for the CPU head as to run both fans on the k2 from it?

I have the z77x-d3h, yeah thats what i mean

nope, im new to pc building so didnt know

You can plug 3pin fans into 4pin headers. The little plastic tabs will guide you as to where to plug them in pin-wise.

You may need to change the control method in the BIOS for the headers to voltage not PWM (although generally Gigabyte's default is auto-select)

oh sweet, I was worried id have to buy another fan

Regarding the k2 fans, does that board not have two 4 pin fan headers? Looking at an image of it on the gigabyte website, there appears to be a fan marked FAN3. You can plug one of the k2 fans in here. My asus Z77 board features dual cpu fan slots. Probably added to recent boards due to the upsurge in use of coolers that use dual fans.
