Hi all,

I have 2 fans (yatetoons 120mm) on order to go alongside my 1 120mm cpu fan.
At the moment I have to take the side of my case off as things can get a little hot.

I'm hoping to place 1 fan at front (intake) to cool my hard drives + move some of the hot air my accelero is puumping inside the case. And the second at rear, is it best to have it removing the air or another intake?

Thanks

For what it’s worth the latest Lian-Li PC-7 has a side fan as an exhaust.

I’m fairly certain the side fan on the Lian-Li A16 is also an exhaust.

You could obviously swap a side fan around and see how it compares.

When researching this for a school project, I found that creating a high pressure environment inside the case would offer superior airflow over a low pressure environment, therefore a 120mm intake and an 80mm exhaust would offer the best cooling. It's yet to be put in to practice, but it's a controversial theory?

Hmmm, i'm not sure about that.

As wont the 'air build-up', get hot as its not being replaced as often?

Logic would say so, but perhaps there's something about high pressured air that aids the transfer of heat from the components?

Technically it would make sense, particles would be closer together exchanging heat like other solids and liquids do. The only problem with this is that having a low air pressure would also allow warm air more space to extract out the case quickly.

I can't say i've seen anything been done this detailed on case airflow, but both ways have some sense behind them.

Yeah I knew there was logic behind my findings.
The case I made for that project was a cube (2 ATX chassis bolted together) with a wind tunnel for the hard drives (which were staggered in height to promote airflow over them) with a 120mm fan at each end, then for the main body of the case I had a 120mm intake and an 80mm exhaust. It's an awesome case but just too big for me to use :(
