Fan problem with Nvidia GeForce 5700LE

My card's fan has started sounding like I stuck a giant wasp in my case. I've tried taking it out and clearing all the dust out of it etc. It's still making a racket, like it's going at different speeds. I'm not noticing any probs with the PC beyond the noise level.

What should I try doing next to fix this little monster? I'm guessing new fan and heatsink? Is there anything else I can try to get the fan to behave itself? Is there a particular cheap but good fan that would work with this card. I want to upgrade it, but it's destined to go in an older PC, so I'd like to keep it living if I can :)

I hate to say it but imo the 5700LE is one of the worst performing graphics cards for what it was supposed to do that has been produced over the last few years.

But thats a good thing in this case :D .

1) It may be cheaper to replace the card with a basic 6200 (can be had for £15-20) series than replace the fan and you will be better off.
2) Because they don't seem to run very hot due to the copius lack of performance, you may be able to run it without the fan, the one in my bros machine (leadtek) works without the fan with no probs after it stopped spinning.

Ah, good to know it'll work ok without the fan. I have plenty of fans inside the case anyway, so it should be pretty cool in there. I'll keep an eye on it till I save up for a grown up's card methinks :)

Thanks a lot :)

Fans do wear out depending on how well made they are and what design it is.

I would say try a dab of oil but on a vertical card with electrical circuits nearby, that may not be too smart.

Running it passive is probably the cheapest option, sit a fan next to it if it runs hot. You can burn the card out especially if it gives no temp reading? so be carefull

Try dusting it off as well
