My pc just switched itself off randomly. i turned it back on and it started then went back off within a few seconds. so i tried it again and heard a noise like the fan was hitting something. so i opened it up and one of the wires which is right beside the CPU fan had hit it. Could this have caused my pc to turn itself off?. The first time it went off i didnt hear any noise problems from the fan.

Fan obstructed-> Fan stops-> CPU temps rocket->CPU cuts out due to thermal protection or mobo cuts out because of loss of CPU fan.
I'd say it was very possible.
