fan pump connectors

My LED fans and pumps have pin connectors with a molex.
I was hoping they all got power from the board but it seems they all need the molex.
Am i right that RGB fans and D5 type pumps only use the pin connectors, not the molex?

A proper D5 can use up to about 35W depending on spec so would pull almost 3 amps - any serious pump will need more power than a fan header would usually supply. RGB will add some power draw too.

Bit surprised about the fans though - is that through a controller or straight into the fans?

fans are led and only work with molex, not from header
