is it possible to

use just the fan from a thermaltake blueorb II and use it as a chasis fan ?

as long as it fits, then yes.

i take it it's just a 3 pin connection on the fan its self ?

yes its a 3 pin jimy
so its just a case of pinning it into one of the chasis fan connectors on the mobo
