I put together an upgraded rig recently in a Corsair 750D case. Previously I wasn't really working my PC particularly hard (no gaming, using integrated Intel graphics) so I had a pretty quiet setup with a Noctua NH-C12P SE14 cooler, and a single Akasa case fan in a small mATX Lian-Li case.
In the new setup I have replaced the Noctua cooler with a Corsair H110 as it looks a bit cleaner and doesn't block RAM slots like the Noctua did on my board.
However, the problem I have is that the fans are all pretty loud. I've added an HD 7990 graphics card which is obviously adding a fair bit to the noise levels as it's going full pelt at the moment, however separately from that, a lot of the noise is coming from the two 140mm fans supplied with the H110 radiator and to a lesser extent from the Corsair supplied case fans in the 750D.
I've bought and fitted a Lamptron FC5 V2 fan controller to replace the Akasa 5-in-1 PWM cable that I had originally as it turns out my motherboard's single case fan header doesn't actually support PWM or voltage control!
Anyway, down to the question: The 140mm fans that came with the H110 appear to be PWM and it seems that they pretty much only work in an on or off mode with the fan controller, i.e if you turn the voltage dial on the Lamptron past a certain point they'll come on and be at virtually full speed otherwise they'll slow to a complete stop. The case fans to some degree appear to be controllable (they are 3-pin) although they aren't particularly quiet either.
Please can someone recommend some replacement fans for the H110 that will work correctly with the fan controller? I only need two as I'm not likely to be pushing the CPU particularly hard apart from normal gaming (no overclocking at the moment, i7-2600K) so I think fitting 4 in a push/pull config is probably overkill for me.
Also, is it worth replacing the case fans at the same time? Some of the fans seem to buzz a little bit when used with the fan controller, I haven't yet identified if it's the case fans or the radiator fans.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
