I'm just ordering parts for my new build and have settled on the Silverstone FT02 case, Asus P8p67 Pro and Thermalright Silver Arrow Cooler among other things which aren't relevant to this query.
I'm just wondering the best way to run my fans.
Option1:
The mobo only has 1 4 pin cpu header and the cooler has 2 x TY-140 4 pin fans so I assume I can use a PWM Y cable to connect both to the cpu header? Then I can just run the 3 intakes from the PSU and run them on low/high using the case switches, then the exhaust fan can connect to the chas_1 4 pin header. Then I will have control over all my fans if I have worked it out correctly!?
Option 2:
I was toying with the idea of a NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller so I could connect the 3 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan to it. I would need to use the splitter again if I wanted to connect the 2 cpu fans to the 5th header on the controller. However I noticed the Sentry 2 isn't compatible with PWN fans. Is there any way around this such as removing the plastic from the end of the 3 pin connectors on the Sentry allowing me to connect the 4 pin fans. Would this work or should I stick with option 1.
What would you guys do?
Thanks in advance!
