I'm looking at getting some NZXT AER RGB fans for my H400.

Currently I have x2 140mm X62 Kraken fans on my intake at the front and x1 120mm on the back exhausting and x2 120mm on the top exhausting.

I'm looking to upgrade the top exhaust fans to x2 140mm (and x1 120mm back exhaust) and swap them for RGB fans.

My concern is that if I have x2 140mm on top exhausting will it mean I have to much exhaust and not enough intake, would I be better off for temperatures sticking with 120mm fans as my exhaust? Or perhaps even get the 140mm and have one on intake and one on exhaust?

The smart money is just to leave your current fan setup as it is. 5 fans are plenty. You won't gain much from chopping and changing.

I doubt you'd benefit much with regard to temperatures by swapping top exhausts to 140mm fans, but you'd be able to run the fans at a lower RPM and probably create less noise from the top exhaust as a result.

Don't think it'd be worth the additional expenditure though, since the 2 front intake fans would still be working harder and therefore noisier than the 3 output fans.

Yeah I mean the main reason is just because they are RBG and look prettier haha, I have the PC on my desk now so thought I'd light it up a bit.

Only thing I was worried about is if going from x2 120mm on top to x2 140mm would mean I have to much exhaust and make the temps worse overall.

I would argue the opposite way haha.

If you ran the exhaust at full whack, then yes it would be too much exhaust vs intake. But just lower the exhaust fans' RPM accordingly.

Cool. not sure how the AER RGB fans work, they plug into a HUE2 controller I believe, but would rather just plug them straight into the mobo then I can let the mobo control fan speed via BIOS which is probably better than CAM Software I imagine.

you don't look at your rgb lit case whilst gaming :P

nah, temps won't budge. what will happen is that your case will run into negative pressure, and air will be pulled in from any gaps in the panels. dust too...so possibly dustier innards.

this.

Haha, it is true I do not look at it when I'm playing, I've since decided against it, I can't justify the cost... £120 for the same fans I have now except they have rgb lights on them :P.
