Fan setup options?

I have an Asus H81M-C mounted in a Thermaltake V21.

The asus only has 4 pin fan connections available but the main front intake fan of the V21 is a 3 pin connector. I've ordered a molex/3 pin adaptor so I can get the front fan running but it would have been nice to use the smart fan tuning the mobo has with this front fan.

It got me thinking what other options I have as this leaves me with a spare 4 pin CPU fan connection.

Would it be worth changing the front fan to a 4 pin fan and using this with the CPU connector?

Should I use the connector as a second fan for the CM Evo 212 sucking air away from the primary fan and through the heatsink?

Should I use the connector as a dedicated exhaust fan? At the rear of the case?

3-pins fit on motherboard 4-pins so you can still use it for the front fan if you want. You may get some form of Smart Control depending on how many features for it Asus has packed it into the BIOS/software for that motherboard, despite the fan not being PWM. Typically, most people prefer not to have case fans ramping up and down and adding to more noise. This barely has an effect on component temps anyway, beyond a certain point. It's the direct cooling on components that sees better results as their fans ramp up.

Any IR controlled ones available? :-D The machines going to be hidden away so anything that can be done remotely is for the better, would even consider an iOS control. Are there pci cards that'll act as auto fan controllers?
