This is my setup:

I'm running two GTX580s which are getting a bit too hot for my liking. I run SETI@Home 24/7 and the cards hit 63c (POV) /70c (Gainward). These temps are with a custom profile from Afterburner, both running around 70% all of the time.

Part of the problem I think is that the Gainward has twin fans that push the heat downwards. The POV card (at the bottom of the setup) has a rear exhaust.

I have tried swapping the card positions but that resulted in 2c higher temps all round. I have a soundcard in the bottom slot which blocks one of the Gainward's fans if I run it in that slot.

I have space for an additional fan at the top of the case (above the RAM). I can also fit two more on the side panel and two at the bottom of the case (one next to PSU, one under the HDD cage).

I'm thinking a fan on the side will be the most effective, but not sure which way round to run it, intake or exhaust. Only the front fan intakes air presently. The top fan and rad fan both extract.

Aside from putting everything under water which isn't an option financially, which are my best options? I will have two additional 120mm fans to play with, and possibly a third if I pull it from my second rig.

Fan on bottom = Intake and fans on side = Intake. Thats how I got my CM690 II Advanced case set up (which looks like you have the same).
