hello all!

i built a new rig recently using the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Mid Tower which comes with a fan controller built in on the back and connected all my fans too

Or should i connect all the fans to my Asus Maximus VIII Formula Intel Z170 motherboard which i think has built in fan controlling software?

any advice would be great.

It depends on how you want to control the fans. By connecting them up to the case, then you can adjust the speed of the fans using the controller on the back of the case.

By connecting them up to your motherboard you can link up the fan speed to some temperature in your case (e.g. the CPU, the motherboard) and use the fan controlling software to adjust this.

Would i get better temps do you think if the motherboard was to control the fans

currently i think the fans are running at one speed not sure tho

you would get the best temps by running your fans at full speed constantly.. but then you have to deal with the noise. The only advantage of connecting them up to your motherboard is not having to manually change their speed.

Actually just checked out your case online... it sounds like the fan controller plugs into the motherboard anyway. So you should already be able to control the fan speed using the Asus software (AI suite i think it's called)

yeah i really dont want them loud, so think i will have to swap over to see how they sound and if there is any difference,

thanks for the advice

One thing to look into is how to connect the fan hub into the motherboard. From what i've seen you can do this.. just saves you unplugging 3 fans.
