Fan speed problem!

Hey,

i have an Akasa Ambur series fan in my PC, i'ts plugged onto the mothboard header with all 3 wires connected.

when i load up speed fan it detects it's their and shows the speed and temperature but won't let me adjust the speed.

can someone help me solve this, thanks

In speedfan go to configure, advanced and select your monitoring chip. Under pwm mode chek its set to 'software controlled' rather than 'smart guardian' or 'on/off'.

Usually not all fan headers have speed control, check the board manual to see which ones have speed control. Usually its the cpu fan and a case fan header.

thanks for that

i can now control my CPU fan which is kool :D

but my akasa still insists on full speed, i tried another akasa fan (Exactly the same model) and i had the same problem, also i had this problem on my old EPoX nForce 3 Ultra mobo.

Dont the akasas already push very little air? Why do you want to take it down even further?

for your information, this fan pushes more than 3 times the amout of air than the stock AMD fan. i've unplugged it now tho because the noise is driving me nuts, even tho it's generally quieter than the CPU fan, at least u can control the CPU fan.

What size fan is it?

Are you planning on running 4 sticks?
If so you have to lower the command rate to 2t. Minor performance penalty.
