Hey guys I found a case fan lying around my house and i just installed it.
It's loud as hell. I'm just wondering what programs i can use to decrease the RPM on the fan to make it more quiet. It's plugged into the 3 pin sys_fan port on my mobo. I tried using speedfan but no avail.

If there are any fan control options in the bios, disable them. Because if speedfan doesn't do it, there aren't (that I know of) any other options.

It may be that you cant control the speed via software, In that case you'll either have to get a fan controller or just a new fan.

Have you checked the system fan in the BIOS. I think your motherboard (if it's the one in your sig) only supports monitoring the sys_fan not speed control.

EDIT: Sorry, was posting while you were answering :-)

Yeah the mobo in the sig is what im using. Ah ok i'll have a look in the BIOS now. brb :D

EDIT: Ok i had a look in the BIOS and couldn't find anything to do with any other fan other than the CPU fan...

If you can switch the fans to PWM mode or turn off any of the motherboards built in speed control features, that might allow speedfan to control them.
