fan speed

Hi
i have a p8z68-v pro mobo and a corsair 650d case with a h100 cooler at the top

if i set the fan to high on the h100, then restart the pc, the fans speed up really fast then gradually slow down during boot

so i went into bios and disabled cpu q fan control. but that dident help

just wondering if theres a way to make the fans stay really fast all the time? instead of slowing down on boot up

i tried installing speedfan, but thats showing all my temps to be really low and my cpu @ -60! and doesent move, also if i try controlling the fans with it , it doesent work at all. any ideas?

Only way I know is to plug the fans directly into the motherboard, if they arnt PWM fan headers then they should spin 100% all the time, if they are go into bios and set them as 100.

Why do you want them to run at 100% though? they will sound like jet engines ;p

Hi thanks for reply, i bought the pc, already built, but as far as i can see, theres 2 plugs going into the h100 control cooler, and a plug with 1 single wire going to cpu fan , and a 2 pin molex into the psu

whats PWM mean? and how do i set fans to 100 in bios? i havent see that option, only to enable cpu Q fan or disable it

Yeh the h100 is set up properly, the fans are connected to the h100 and then a single wire from the h100 goes into the CPU header for the fans and then a sata power cable to your power supply to give power to the cooler.

PWM basically means it controls the speed that your fan's run at.
If the fan's that you have attached to the radiator of your H100 have 4 pins on the end (the connector), then they can be PWM controlled, if they only have 3, then they can't.

Again is there any reason you want to run the fans at 100%? surely that will be very loud...
What are your temperatures like?

About the BIOS, the fan speed option is on the Monitor section of the bios, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiOnq2jeB1U - 2.19 min's in, easier to link a vid than explain it o_o

i just like to be in control :)
yes it would be loud but that doesent bother me, when i have my headphones on using pc

temps are just short of 60 degrees on full load @ 4.3ghz

just curious as to how low i can get the temps when fans are at 100% constantly

Speedfan is tricky to get it to work properly I find, I personally have never been able to get the stupid thing to work ^^ as you have to configure it for your system.

Check your CPU temperatures with something like CPUID HWMonitor to get proper temperatures, or Core Temp.
With the h100 you already have 3 modes to set the fan at (directly on the pump it-self) surely that's enough control for you.
Just see what your temperatures are and then you can mess around with the bios etc if you must have 100% fan speed.

i must have 100% fan speed :)
but i cant see anything in the monitor tab, in bios to make it 100%?
i already have cpuid, hwmonitor etc, i know my temps.

Yeah just tried that you can change CPU Fan speed to monitor or ignore, i have tried both but still slows down during boot up, my other settings are same as the pic in the link too

Hmmm, what about CPU Fan Speed Low Limit (might be able to set this as high as it goes and that will force the fan's to run high) or CPU Fan Profile?
If those don't work I have no idea, can't see anything else that could possibly change it in the Bios.

thanks for your help, matsylr

another thing i find weird is no matter what setting i put the cooler on via the button on the cooler, it shows to be running @ 2163 RPM,via HWmonitor and speedfan although i can hear the fans slowing down u when i press the button, on option 1 , (1 light) it still shows it as 2163RPM

I'm going to asume that one of those worked? (ish) :P
I have no idea about the other thing...the h100 and the bios might be conflicting or something, the h100 has controls on it for a reason (ur supposed to use em!) :P
Put the h100 on high, reboot and see what it does ;p

well no matter what i change in the monitor tab , it changes nothing, nevermind, i'll just keep the cooler on the performance setting. really appreciate your help though, thanks.

:(

Sorry I couldn't help you.
Your just incredibly picky :D , set the h100 on the highest it will go and leave it alone! XD.
I personally have my h80i on the quite setting ;p, spins up during boot, then goes virtually silent.

Ive never used any of the all in one loops apart from PNY's gtx580, but cant you just plug the fan directly to the PSU to get them to stay at 100% all the time?

The noise would kill me xD

Bought some high performance SP120's the other day, and while they are crazy awesome to get some epeen overclocking screens, im pretty sure they were a few RPM short of turning my pc into an airboat with sound and all!

Yeh you can, could use two of these
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-007-GE

Connect a fan to each of them and then the molex to the PSU.

DOn't know why I didn't think of that ;p

And yeh avenger, my stock h80i fans (basically performance SP120's without the rubber, changable rings and slightly louder, but better CFM) are loud as hell on performance setting....its not even funny...

thanks for your help, matsylr

Because if you have installed the H100 as per the manual you are seeing the pump speed not the fan speed. The H100 controls the fan speeds according to the water temperature and you can't see the fan speeds using Speedfan.
If you need to see and control the fan speeds then you must connect the fans to your motherboard and not the H100.

ok thanks for the replys guys much appreciated. i'll just leave it how it is, like matsylr said , im just being very picky , and yeah i agree :)
