Fan stil lnot working after replacement

Cooler Fan still not working after replacement - advice required

Hi all

Haven't posted here in a long time but I have a strange issue that I wonder if any one has come across before / can offer advice on.

All of a sudden the fan on the Arctic Cooling ATI 5 Rev 2 cooler on my X850 XT PE card stopped working. (I noticed this as I got the message from ATI CCC that my speeds were being lowered as my card was going to overheat). It's been working for 2 years previously.

So, fair enough I thought - dead fan. So I bought a replacement (same thing as they're cheap) and installed that - fan still does not work!

Card appears to function properly apart from that.
No other power related issues on the PC.

I can only imagine that a problem has occured with fan connection socket on the card - but it seems like an odd thing to fail, with the rest of the card working as normal.

Is this the only explanation or is anything else possible?

Fan header blown possibly.

You could check with ATI tools to see if it will respond to manually overiding the fan control.

If push comes to shove, you'd need to mod the fan somehow to connect to either a motherboard fan header, or a 4 pin molex connector.
