I will be needing some fans for 2 different purposes. First of all, I need some 120mm case fans. I am looking for the quietest possible fans so the Fractal Design fans look a good bet. I will be dismantling these fans, spraying the blades red and adding some LEDs according to Tealc's turorial.

Next I need a fan for the CoolIT Vantage I was lucky enough to win. I believe these need a good static pressure, which the Fractals dont have, so am looking for the quietest possible fan for this application. On that note, which is the best configuration for fans on a rad, push or pull, and which is quietest? I have some great looking Xigmatek fans but would hate to use them because of the racket they cause!

Does anyone have any experience of the LED version of that fan or used it on some kind of radiator? Thanks for the suggestion!

+1 for Skarkoon's.

Using Skarkoon SE 2000 hooked to a fan controller on my triple rad. Running them at just under 1000 rpm and are very good. They are pretty much silent and I get good temps.

Apparently the LED Akasa fans are awful. Basic, cheap and just about the bling and not about being quiet. Most LED fans are the same unfortunately, hence the mod of a normal fan as I already had two LED fans I could have used. This is just in my experience though, maybe there are silent LED fans available somewhere.

Eventually I will mod decent fans such as GTs or the Apaches when I get around to buying some.

I also hear some good things about the Sharkoons but feel they will give a strange surface when you paint them, so maybe the Fractals would be better as they are simpler.

Is 1000rpm enough for your needs?

This is true. I have one running as an intake fan on my Antec 300 and had to use a Fan speed reduction cable it was so loud!

The Apache's are a different story however - using one on my Heatsink and it's superb :)

The fractals will be fine for my case as I am going for a negative air pressure anyway. I will keep 2x 230mm fans because they move a fair bit of air and are silent. The only one I am uncertain about now is the fan for the rad, but the apaches seem the way forward!

i have an elite 335 case with the rear exhaust fan that came with the case and an akasa emperor blue 1200rpm 120mm fan in front intake.

Generally whats the best setup for a case, same fan front and rear? the 120mm psu fan also sucks out. I have space for an 80mm fan to the side but not sure if i should A. stick on in & B. if this should suck or blow!

I was thinking of getting 2x gentle typhoon -15 (1840rpm) for intake and exhaust... but not sure on noise levels. I have onboard fan control and a seperate controller if necessary.

The noise i have to compare it to is the 92mm fan on a freezer 64 pro at 2300rpm its pretty noisy. compariosn anyone? the two 120mm fans are silent in my opinion at 1200rpm.
