Fan +temp controllers Newbie

Hey iv noticed a few controller cards on the ocuk shop and want to ask some questions about them. they look really good and i would like to include one in my set up at some time. However, how do they operate. Do the fans within the case have to be wired up to the unit. Also for the temperature ones do they come with the temperature probes or do they have to be bought seperately and then attached to the components .

Yes, the fans have to be directly connected to them for them to work.

They work by altering the voltage going to the fan either by monitoring the temperature of them or by you turning a knob or something.

The ones that display the temps should come with temp probes that you have to attach yourself.

Others display the speed that the fans are going at, thanks to the third wire coming from the fan (usually yellow or white). However, if your fan just has two wires going from it, this obviously wont work.

Yea thanks that explains things. Can these be connected to any fans e.g. psu cpu? or just for aftermarket ones in cases etc etc
