fan wire polarity?

used to standard black and red wire fans so anyone know which would be positive and negative on this fan:

uses black and brown wire.

Yeah red is always positive, regardless of what colour the other wire is. From memory, it simply don’t work if it’s the wrong way around. No fires

You've obviously not seen enough dodgy electronics from China, or apparently now Vietnam. Wire colours can be assigned completely at random.

Im sure a black and decker cordless drill that had nimh or nicad cells in it also had black and brown wire and black was positive. Wired wrong caused the drill to smoke and bust

What Mr Evil said. Wire color in many Asian product means nothing. Same probably applies to 3rd world / Indian / African / South American manufactures.
