I have a log fire and also one of these element fans that self powers once it receives a certain temperature...

Can't help but think a electric type metal fan with all circuits protected blowing at the back of it would allow a greater amount of heat back in the room.. .

Would this not work, due to the heat?.... I wonder why you can't buy them

The little pettier fans don’t move much air but still help. I would worry that if you used a large electric fan you would cool one part of the frame excessively maybe inducing stress, buckling or even cracking.

I often use an electric fan on top of a side board in a room with a wood burner to blow warm air down and encourage circulation and even the temperature difference top to bottom, only need it on 5mins every half hour to get a nice even mix.

Stove fans look fun but i don't think they move any useful amount of air in my experience. I have used a tower fan to help move the air around a we have quite a big open plan with a log burner leading onto a big opening to the hallway and landing, it does seem to help even the temperatures out.

Well the conductive fans cost zero electricity, whereas an electric fan will cost you money in electricity (which may be better spent on fuel?)

The conductive fans seem pretty good to me.

I bought a stove fan from Aldi. It does next to nothing except make a faint noise which annoys me.

Sitting a normal electric fan at the other side of the room for a few minutes does a great job of moving the heat around. It doesn't need to be near or pointing at the log burner to get a flow of air going.
