Hey all,

Had this spec since July 07 and I feel like I'm due an upgrade sometime soon.

Currently got:

Asus P5K Deluxe
Q6600 B3
Crucial Ballistix 6400 2gb
Tuniq Tower
BFG 8800GTX OC2

Also only using XP 32bit but I want to make the move to Vista 64 bit.

I've sort of got an idea of what I want to upgrade to, but i'm willing to hear what everyone else's input is.

I'd like to upgrade my CPU, GFX Card, possibly my motherboard and get a decent set of ram (4gb)

Something like that is what I have in mind, but as I said, I'm open to everyone's idea's

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't have thought so.. I have the same rig and have no plans to upgrade until I know what comes out next from ATI/NVIDIA.

Basically, the 8800GTX will play all todays games without hardly any compromise so until such time you have to start playing around to get your games working, then I'd tuck the money away until middle of next year.

I see your point dude, you reckon its worth getting 4gb ram tho and Vista 64bit?

I really want to move to Vista after using it and seeing it in the flesh as i've just built a new spec for my cousin and the majority of my mates have it.

Just need a decent set of ram

If you really need to upgrade then yeah I guess Vista and a decent 4GB of mem. from OCZ/Corsair or some such would do. Have you oc'd your CPU?
Something like an HD4870 1GB or 260-216 should give you a decent graphics boost if you want that.

Haha love 'upgrading' can now consist of getting the same cpu but just with a different stepping :)

On a reply front: your cpu and gfx don't need upgrading - to notice a difference you'd really need to go for big big money like for a 4870x2 and a Core i7 965 etc which isn't worth it.

The most cost effective performance increase option to be honest is investing in a good cooling setup and getting that Q6600 up to around 3.6Ghz. So also invest in 2x2GB of good PC8500 overclocking RAM - I personally have always had good results from Corsair and GeIL.

Stick with the pc6400 memory, it's cheaper and you can clock the q6600 up to 3.6Ghz without overclocking the memory anyway, unless you're thinking of dropping the multi?
