Fancy dress help

I'm going to a murder mystery fancy dress party tonight and we've all been given specific costumes instructions, here's mine

Your jeans and t-shirt look gives you the appearance of a cool customer but no-one knows what's going on behind your black sunglasses. Sometimes you'll ware a sports cap when the competition heats up and you'll always carry around a few 'lucky chips' that you riffle through your fingers

Was thinking of white shoes, black jeans, white or black t-shirt and hat. Too bland or should I go for some stupid colour combinations?

Has anyone been to one of these parties before? Seems like a nice change from going out every Saturday to drink far too much!
