Hi all,

I'll be short and straight to the point with this...

Many of you will know I run Vortez.net (hardware review site) and we will be doing various 'OcUK member testing' with Alpenfohn product throughout 2011. Its a great opportunity for anyone to get involved on these forums. So to start things off, basically I have a box of Wing Boost fans - 120mm and 140mm fans (Product pages are here)

I'd like those who are interested in testing these fans to post within the thread and on 19th April @ 22:00GMT I will select random members and send out fans. The idea here is to find out what you think of these fans and post it on the forums with a few pictures and just a summary of your findings. We aren't looking for comprehensive analysis (although if you want to... go for it!) its a good way of finding out what the enthusiast thinks of these products and it should be a lot of fun!

So, if you are interested in doing a mini review on these fans please register interest within this thread and I will select members on 19th April @ 22:00GMT

You say there's going to be other products to try out too, does getting selected for one test mean you won't be able to test others? Or will it just be completely random each time?
Not necessarily no :) For the decision making its always good to know what people are using, and what the product will be tested vs too.

Ok guys. It seems we've had a lot of interest in the thread which is great. Thanks! I've chosen a selection of members to take some of the fans. Those who haven't been chosen, fear not - we will be also doing this with a series of CPU/VGA coolers that were seen at CeBIT recently. So this is by no means a one off!

Just watched that video in the link you posted mish... that K2 is HUUUUUGE!!!

The GPU cooler called "Peter" still makes me laugh, suprised the CPU coolers aren't called Dave and John lol
Hefty stuff! they are all named after mountains - not sure if anyone has twigged yet. Peter, K2, Himalaya, Matterhorn etc

Very nice mate thanks for posting this and so soon too. Sorry I didn't reply sooner about where to post. Here is perfect, within the thread :)

Glad you liked the fan, some nice points there!

I was hoping to compare the AIpenföhn with my Vipers but unfortunately I only received one to test. All my other fans are 140mm so I have introduced an additional PA100 radiator into the loop to test the 120mm. Because the tubing is tight I have fitted the fan at 45 degree to allow for the tubing. Not elegant but it works.

Unfortunately we only had a certain supply and I was keen to get them out to as many as possible for a good overall verdict from different standpoints.

Thanks for the review glad you thought they were decent!

Would it not be a good idea to see if people who've already tested the fans post them on? Then what is a limited supply of fans/reviews grows dramatically, and the number of set-ups tested also.
If anyone feels they want to then sure, they can do this but I wouldn't want to make it mandatory.

A few more pictures, tried to capture them running so you can see what it looks like, I managed it kind of, it's a bit blury as no flash, any tips of getting a decent picture with it running with a rubbish camera?, got to say they do look very nice running even without the fancy led's most fans have, these look much more professional, unlike my pictures:)
Those pics look good mate. Without the flash, if you have good light then just try and keep the camera as still as possible. If you have a tripod this would help!

A big thanks to Mishima, Vortez.net and Alpenföhn for the chance to have some input/testing use with the new model fans.
Reads very well, thanks for your verdict. Lots of info and good pics for people to divulge. :)
