Hey all,
Am bit fed up with cleaning insides of my case from all dust and cat hair...yes cat hair :)

My system is watercooled. Am using 700D.
Am thinking about swapping my PSU for a fanless one, so that would eliminate dust and other particles coming in from the bottom of the case - there is a mesh on the bottom that stops a lot of dust but still...could cover it completely.
There is a fan between HDDs that could go - with water in case, there is no much need for airflow to cool HDDs (?) or am I wrong ...

Rear fan - maybe could leave it as it pulls air out of the case so wont allow any dust to come in while it is on...different case when it is off :) - so maybe could get rid of it and cover exhaust hole ?

only fans that wold stay in, would be rad fans - 3x120mm

it is only an idea...not sure if that would work and maybe it is just my boredom at work taking ;)

Other idea is to fit my system in to BitFenix Prodigy :)

but that would cost much more as I wound need to get new pump, res, smaller rad...and swap HDDs for ones with more capacity - have 3x2TB and a SSD now...

What are your thoughts ?
Thanks

HDDs don't really need fans so that won't be a problem.

Having the rear extractor will still draw in dust from holes in the PC case as it's pulling air through the PC.

Problem with having little air flow is stuff like ram, motherboard PWM does need some airflow to keep the temps reasonable.

Could try water cooling those as well and then I wouldn't see it as a problem?

I've got a similar setup to you in that I have my PSU fan keeping that cool while I only have a rear extractor. My radiator is roof mounted externally with 3 fans blowing air through and into the top of the case and it seems to work fairly well.

Fanless does not equal dustfree as there is still air movement. Just no fan moving it. And without fans that air movement is more easily stopped by dust and yes... cat hair. ;) And when that happens thing will get too hot.

HDDs do need airflow too. Mine are 25-34c with fan but will push 50c without fan. ;)

So you have a couple of options:

Hermetically seal up you place to stop dust and shave the cat... or install some reasonable filters that are easy to get at and hoover every week.

My money is on filters and hoover. ;)

Unless you water cool everything with radiators/fans outside of case you will get dust. The radiator fans move air through case too. ;)

Do you keep your PC on the floor by any chance?

Whenever I've had my PC like that it always got mega dusty, if it's on the desk, less of a problem

Partial solution?
