I thought it was a bit cheeky that it seemed like a full price game when listening to the giant bombcast which said it was basically just more L4D. Especially considering L4D isn't a particularly large game.

Heres hoping it gets released as DLC, would actually keep the comunity up a bit on XBL, if not everyone would just migrate to L4D2, but if it is DLC, then both with thrive.

they have a history of supporting there games for a long time so this is a very wierd move for them. I for one will not be buying L4D2 as i believe the 1st one does not represent massive value for money. sure its good but its still damn small.

I'm disappointed in Valve (first time I've ever said that)

Agreed.

Where is all this promised DLC? TF2 cost half the price and has constantly been added to. L4D full priced, game half effort and then a sequel within twelve months.

If its an episodic game, charge episodic prices. Not typical of Valve but if this is the way its going to be I won't be buying.

They want the whole thing to be released as a free update?

Jog on I say.

I'm all for free content, but the magnitude of L4D2 isn't just a small update.

If I were Valve I'd just say **** 'em. and concentrate on the superior PC release. :D

I wouldn't expect it to be free, but tbh, it boils down to a map pack, so should be charged as such.

Even release it as a couple of seperate packs would be cool imo.

They've said they're still supporting L4D and there's more DLC coming very soon - I don't see a problem with it personally especially as there seems to be a lot more to 2.

£15-20 would be reasonable.

Yeah i think so too, but even just as DLC.

If it is stand alone, it kills L4D, unless they do sommit so you can play both games without swapping discs. The idea should be to grow the community, not split it.

They've already said any mods made for LFD1 will work with LFD2 so it's unlikely there are any major engine changes. Thus, this should be release as DLC. Not free, would clearly be a massive free DLC and I don't expect them to work for free, but certainly not a full blown sequel.

Wasn't there talk of the two games sharing the same Title screen and so I guess R2D2 would be installed in the original L4D folder and you wouldn't need to boot seperately?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm talking about the PC version.

They have said that for a while, but 1 gameplay mode in 9 months, and no actual word on any more, isn't really supporting it.
Look at Fallout 3, that has had 3 DLC's plus annoucned another 3 in the same time frame. Fable 2 has 2 new DLC's out.

Shooters for some reason never get good amounts of DLC, that was my complaint with COD4 too. a game like COD4 should have a map pack every 3 months IMO.

Non-one is going to boycott it. The amount of silly online petitions you see these days is ridiculous! I mean people buy sports games every year which have only minor incremental improvements and new stats (FIFA, Tiger Woods, NFL etc.) Most people who buy the game don't know who Valve are, their history in supporting games etc.

It is an FPS and you kill loads of Zombies and there is blood. Your average teenager who buys FPS on the 360 will lap it up, without caring about the politics.

Edit: I can possibly see some PC owners boycotting it, but on 360 people will just buy it. The kind of people who play these games care more about playing the latest online game with their mates than issues of DLC and support etc.

Console sections though guys :p

Valve can't win. They get abused if they take too long to release a game and they get abused if they release a game a year after their last game.

this makes me laugh, what a games company is not allowed to make money now? look at call of duty 4, the mechanics have always been the same at least in singleplayer but people lap that up!
