A while ago i was looking for some RGB fans for an AIO.

i linked to some Cooler Master fans, the MF120 Halo

i was told they would not be suitable as they only flow 47cfm.

however looking at the Corsair RGB AIOs they use either ML or LL fans which only flow 47 and 43 cfm

so why are the Cooler master fans no good, can someone explain please
 
I would say are those all a bit naff.

When blowing air through a radiator, you want fans with high static pressure. You can have all the CFM you like, but if you don't have the power to push it through the rads, it won't make any difference.
For example, the LL120s only have about 1.7mm-H2O of pressure, whereas the standard ML120s have about 4.2.

Well static pressure i another consideration but not sure where you get your pressure figures from as according to the Corsair tech spec the ML120s have 1.78mm-H2O and the LL120s have 3.0mm-H2O (even the OC page get it wrong saying 1.6mm-H2O for LL120s)

Well I simply looked on Corsair's product pages, assuming they'd get their own data roughly correct...

Static Pressure - 1.61 mm-H2O (so about 1.7)
Fan Airflow- 43.25 CFM

Static Pressure - 0.2-4.2 mm-H2O
Fan Airflow- 75 CFM

ah sorry miss the word “standard”

however this does not explain why Corsair use the RGB LL and ML on their AIOs, does it mean they think they are ok?

They have RGB. People want RGB. RGB sells.
Can't think of any other reason.
Presumably anyone even semi-serious about watercooling would just swap those fans for ones they preferred anyway? I know I did when I got the original H100.

TBH, they're probably alright... but the point in my first post was that you can get far better fans.
