what can i do my pc is driving me nuts

2x120mm fans on low , 600w psu x1800xt freezer64 jeanteck phong case


i want silence

What do you mean by "on low"? You could easily 7v mod them for greater quiet if you have not yet done so.

arnt them x1800xt supposed to be very noisy ?? a low speed 120mm fan are normally very quiet. also if the freezer 74 is rtunning at full speed t hat will make a fair noisei have mine running at 50%

Some cheap ideas:

Buy earplugs
Turn PC off
Build a baby oil PC (OK, so that's not quite as cheap)

Are those the standard fans that came with the Phong? If so with the built in rheostats turned down you should'nt hear them. Are you sure it's not the X1800?

You could replace it with a passive Zalman heatsink. Make sure it will fit below your graphics card or anything else that overhangs your northbridge.

Just cleaning the fan normally helps, them chipset coolers have a habit of getting loud.

The x1800xt is also annoyingly loud, i'd bet this + the chipset fan on the mobo are contributing to most of the noise.

p.s. If its a 939 mobo there is no northbridge, its the southbridge...

Try getting a passive northbridge cooler and get a replacement fan for your X1800XT.
