Hello all,

Mac Pro recently updated it's Firmware and ever since the fans always seem to be running faster and change speed a lot, even when idling.

I haven't opened it up yet so it could just be dust, anyone else have any ideas as to what it could be?

Many Thanks,

J

I'll just say now, sorry for the rubbish opening post, I was very tired when I wrote that :p

sounds like normal firmware behaviour, Apple are known for their rubbish fan related firmware updates.

bah, really? :( One thing I liked most about it was that it was so quiet, my old machine was so loud and the Mac is beginning to annoy me, is there any software so I can turn the fan speed down?

Thanks.
J

probably had recent issues with heat malfunctions so they have up'd the speed to cool the components. I would just turn the speed down but ensure the macpro is sitting in a cool well vented area as these updates are for people who are probably locking them in cupboards and next to radiators

They haven't been to bad recently, but I'll try the software out tonight and let you guys know.

Thanks for all the help! and sorry for the late reply :)
