my sister has a pretty old Rock Clevo M57U, and after using it for about 10 mins, first the Northbridge Fan, and then CPU fan "roar" into action at full pelt. after checking temperatures, the CPU fan turns on at 22 degrees, which for core 2 duo is pretty cold, and so the fans are unnecessary. however, i cannot change the temperature at which the fans turn on.
In the case of the Northbridge fan, is it actually needed at all? no overclocking has been carried out, and the machine has an nvidia graphics? Can i remove it without there being any long-term serious effects?
