Fantastic Four (2025)

Not really feeling any excitement for FF4, not sure what it is specifically, perhaps just disappointment in the few films and expecting this to be more of the same.

I'll give it a try, and I hope not to be disappointed. Mind you, if I go in with that attitude it's bound to be better than I was expecting!

Looks good, I like the 50s/60s visual styling, but the Four have never been my favourite set of characters and I'm getting strong "Marvel we've seen it before already" vibes from the Trailer. It looks like it risks being a mushy CGI mess like so much recent Marvel output. The repeated thing of asking the Thing to say "it's clobbering time" seemed irritating too. We'll see.

Eh? Where you get that from, the female silver surfer thats pulled directly from the comics?

There's a female surfer in the comics. Huh? Didn't know that. Weirdly, it's the one of the things that puts me off. Surfer was one of the comics I used to read in my teenage years and I'd love to see a really good version of the character hit the big screen.

Its not really the female silver surfer, as mentioned above its Shalla Bal and is in the comics a lot but everyone basically see's her as the female version so that's why I called her as such.

Any Boxoffice predictions?

With the F4 name this really should make money.

I'm going to quote myself below to save retryping as if this makes money, it will break a long-standing franchise trend.

At this stage I could see a £450m ish box office when benchmarking again Cap BnW and Thunderbolts.

If Superman does really well that could easily overshadow it.

Fantastic 4 has never really been a money making franchise or IP outside of the very hardcore fan base, most of which have evaporated. Even their animation series has been super lacklustre over the years.

4 films; first straight to VHS bin, second 05' and third 07' did ok but only c$300m ish each in an era where Spiderman 2/3 were c$800m. This was also the era Batman Dark Knight Trilogy had successfully rebooted the superhero genre to an almost believable closer to real life outlook as the more cartoon perspective was out of favour again.

2015 Fan4Stic only did $160m against the multi $bn Infinity War era. Ignoring how average Fan4Stic was, it shows how tanked that IP is when any and every superhero film was making bank at that point.

Jks cameo as Reed Richards in Dr Strange MoM was decent enough but that was a couple of mins as part of a bigger set piece.

So a reboot with new cast again none of which are massive box office leading draws, using an average bland verging on nonchalantly viewed IP at a time superhero movies have tanked in popularity.

Hard to say how good F4 is going to do, I think it's safe to Superman will do substantially better (but still not great), but I think in that $400-500m region as well. Superman might do $800m at a push, unless it turns out to be the best thing ever and picks up a lot word of mouth boosting.

Superman has better recognition but also a long history of being garbage. I'm not sure it defaults to better numbers.
Yup, with Gunn, it'll be very much through a dice and see what we get with it.

Kirby is enough to get me to F4, oozes charisma in most things shes in.

400m tops. It's going to be more modern audience bs :p

450m I reckon, a bit extra from the mugs who pay to watch this garbage in IMAX :p

Superman will be 1 billion, or very close!

She was ok, but now she's just the new Rachel Ziegler tbh. Talked trash about the audience and said bad things about men. They never learn

Maybe 1 billion was optimistic. Im gonna revise my predictions. :p

Superman 800-900. Biggest selling Superman film, ever!
F4 400-450. The bad things that Vanessa Kirby said about men is really gonna hurt the Box Office. I'm gonna take a Blue Pill before I go to see it, so I should be fine.

The Daily Beast broke the July 8th embargo set by Warner Bros. for those outlets that got to see press screenings.Their review is titled: “The Terrible New ‘Superman’ Movie Is the Final Nail in the Grave for the Superhero Genre.”The review is said to have been up for five minutes before the Daily Beast took it down,

The name of the site rings a bell, but I just went to it now and not even sure if it's serious or parody! I read a few headlines, seems like Daily Mail content for low IQ people, on the whole. They still have some links to the review you mentioned, but they lead to page 404 etc now.

I'm sticking to my predictions. I see a lot of these xxxx is the final nail in the coffin for MCU/DC/Superheroes style headlines tbh, and superhero movies, on the whole, still make a lot of money!

Edit: I just noticed JP Rebirth also had an embargo only a few days before release. Not sure if this is the new normal, I don't read film reviews anyway!
