Hi Guys

what would be a fantasy board game appropriate for an adults and a 12 year old?

I love the look of Zombicide but it maybe be a bit much so thinking fantasy may be better?

I was thinking maybe Super Dungeon Explore, anyone have any experience with this?

Its a good game with expansions. Whilst the adventures will be the same straight from the box, you can change your characters and level them up (I think, been a while since I played)

I love the look of Super Dungeon Explore - have never played it tho. If you do get it I'd like to hear what you think. My allegiance is obviously with Zombicide, can't get enough of it, but Descent looks very good too. There are too many good games to choose from these days!

I can't recommend anything better than Descent 2nd edition, but The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Summoner Wars, Rune Wars & Mage Wars are all excellent fantasy games that fill different niches. Depends on what sort of fantasy game your looking for.

something to get the family into rpg'ish stuff, they like traditional boardgames, descent looks great just worried its a bit complex for them.

Super Dungeon Explore is a gpod other option. Also you could look at something like Lost Legends if you don't specifically need miniatures, but really Descent 2nd ed is really the best option. It's not too hard, though I could see it being daunting if your not used to that sort of game. You could always play a solo game first on the first basic mission to get a grasp of it.

Decent is an exelent game! I bought it in August & have been playing a fair bit with a friend, I played the Overloard role while he was the heroes it's worth picking up but I warn you the rules can be a little overwhelming first off if you have not played anything like it before.
Search for WatchitPlayed decent on YouTube to get a good idea of what it's like.

Talisman or dungeon quest could fit the bill. Though they are very luck based.

People recommending Talisman should be strung up by the goolies until dead.

One of the D&D boardgames might be a good pick. I've heard reasonable things about them, and they're full co-op with solo playability so they won't go to waste if some people don't like them.

I think Talisman is a good game, but it can drag out exponentially the more expansions are included. Dungeon Quest is okay, but I wouldn't say as a first board game, it can be frustrating and over too quickly if you have bad luck.

My recommendations would be any of the Dungeons and Dragons boardgames (Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, Legend of Drizzt) if you all like to work together. If you want to split a person out to be the 'evil' player against the rest then Descent is a good option. Any of these are great if you like miniatures or having lots of figures on the board.

Non fantasy but probably fits the bill otherwise - RELIC - a better updated version of talisman.
I was surprised that despite having no interest in 40k my wife has really loved Relic. It is quite luck dependent, but there are decisions every turn, and it generates it own narrative.
