Just a wee update.

The last couple of days the card seems to have "settled down" if thats even possible with no artifacting at stock speeds. Tried upping the core to 1125 and got through Heaven with no artifacting but 1150 did even with power limit % at 20.

It seems the gigabyte is voltage locked and 1125 is as hight as it wants go but i dont really know if thats normal or not. What do you guys think? Would you DSR it and go for a different brand, baring in mind a quiet cooler is a must for me as i wont ever be going down the water route.

Thanks

Personally i wouldn't have bought the Gigabyte to start with, but you didn't know. :)

Now that you have it, think. are you happy to live with it, or do you want a better one?

The HIS i linked IS better.

By better do you mean it just clocks better? The cooler is important to me because I hate excessive noise. The gigabyte is pretty quiet at 50% fan speed and keeps the card below 70c.

Gigabyte R9 280X WindForce 3X:
Idle, 31.4 db | Moderate Load, 42.8 dB - 38.3 dB Modified | Full Load, 47.9 dB - 42.7 dB Modified

HIS R9 280X IceQ X²:
Idle, 30.5 dB | Moderate Load, 37.2 dB | Full Load, 41.7 dB

As you can see the HIS IceQ right across the board is actually quieter. :)

Actually, if you do ask them let me know what they said, if i get lucky in the next week or so i'm going to be buying one myself.
