Well... just used my Blaze VGA cable with my 19" TFT, native 1280x1024

Playing PGR3...

And im utterly disappointed...

The colours appear washed out compared to my normal TV...that i could live with but...

The car looks like its a metre wide... i fiddled and fiddled and i just cant make it look good.

What are you gentlemen and ladies using with your CRT/TFT. Resolution wise/format wise? And are you playing PGR3 with it?

I'm guessing the aspect ratio isn't correct. Does the image appear on the monitor with the standard widescreen b&w bars at the top and bottom?

I think PGR3 works best at 1024x768 if you're not using widescreen, everything else is scaled, try setting that (non-widescreen) in your dashboard options.

Now that is looking hott... Got the olde letter box... but its clear and crisp and lurvely.. thanks very much.

Any advances on this im willing to try. If you use a different mode.

Exactly why I refuse to use VGA on it, component really leaves it standing in my eyes. I've had a VGA cable for nearly 2 months and used it maybe 3 times. Poor.

Yeah but spending a grand on a big ass high def box is hardly an option for a lot of people especially if theyve got a few hundred quids worth of monitor sat there begging then its a viable option.

I think the problem with the whole VGA thing, is that the cables are far more suted to larger 16:9 widescreen LCT TVs, and some 4:3 TVs/CRTs. As 1280x1024 isn't the correct size, people get problems.

Won't running a TFT at anything other than its native resolution look poor?

Only if the screen upscales. If it doesn't, he will just end up with black borders around a smaller image.

I'm currently using my Dell 2005FPW at 1360x768, I can't really compare it to having it connected to a HD monitor as I don't have one. PGR3 looks great, doesn't seem streched at all and Kameos colours seem very nice don't seem washed out, I'd post a few screenshots but I don't have a camera atm.

Oh yeah and I'm using a Joytech VGA cable.

Ah right, I thought all TFTs upscaled but I guess it's Windows doing that, not the monitor itself is it :)

It can be one or the other. Not all screens have the option to disable it.

Depends, upscaled by the game or upscaled by the TFT, neither of them are ideal, we're only talking about PGR3 here of course and it looks pretty much the same no matter what resolution you choose.

It looks better on my old 19" crt than it does on the 19" tft i have, can't say i noticed any washed out colours.

Been running mine on my 17" TFT since launch .. I dont think the following photos of PGR3 I took look washed out ? Unless my eyes are broken :

yeah, same here - I use a (joytech) VGA connected to my plasma and the colours look really vibrant, identical to component. I use the VGA as I have my xbox1 going via the component and only one set of connectors, but as for colours theres no difference on my screen.

However I also tried it on my 19" LG monitor and the colours did noticeably less vibrant. I guess that rules out the cable brand?

any 1 using the vga on a 19" monitor? Just wanted to se how it looked and if its worth getting 1

Yeah I am, a Viewsonic VX912. Had no problems with it at all, had to change the aspect for PGR3, but other than that absolutely perfect. No wash outs, images crisp and sharp. Didn't have 'that' much of an issue on the TV to be honest, didn't think it was as bad as some people have experienced. Colleague has his 360 linked into a 54" Samsung (don't know the model but it's got DLP and Progressive HD) and whilst he says the 'graphics' are far better than the original Xbox (obviously!), the overall image quality is better on my monitor and he's gonna stop using his TV and use his 21" monitor instead.
