I bought a 3850 with a 6 pin PCI-E power input

i then bought a 2x molex -> 6 pin PCI-E power adapter to use it

but the two don't fit.

You have "domes" and "square" shapes on the power adapter, so it can only fit in..

Graphics card wants:

D D S
S D D

But the adapter is

D S S
S D D

Am i right in thinking that the adapter is wrong?
I reallllyy want to get this working...

At the moment, the molex wires are giving yellow cables at the top row, and black on the bottom row (excuse me, not sure what they relate to but i think all molex use the same) - could anyone confirm this for me with their graphics card?

If i try and hack away at the middle Square plastic pin to make it a dome, think it'll work?

Thanks in advance

6pin adaptor should look like this:

Thanks chief - so yeah, the cheapy molex -> pci-e power thing is wrong..

So, second question - think i could just turn that square into a domed?

The top level of pins (next to the claspy thing) are yellow, the bottom layer are black

Pretty sure it sounds like the wiring is the wrong way around...

Black should be near the clasp, and Yellow on the bottom.

EDIT - Yup deffo wrong, meant to be like this:

I'd just send it back, or ask them to send one out that isn't completely wrong :D

OK, my mistake, the colours ARE the right way round

but another problem!

It has all 3 black pins, but only 2 of the yellows... the middle yellow is empty
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i assume this is for the card i sold you? wasn't there a molex to pci-e adapter cable in the box? (thought there was - maybe my memory is failing me :o )

(oh and if it's working ok, can you update my trust please. :p)
