Cooling muti GPU System

Very good cards, I have a few.

Before

During (Hot AND noisy)

Currently (not on state temporarily)

Before you started water cooling these cards how noisy were they? can you compare it to something? I only ask as your noisy might not be noisy to me

"vacuum cleaner on low" noisy and that was before this heat

I tweaked the fan profiles with rivatuner to try and stay as quiet as possible but because of the heat there was always one or two of them at 80%+ fan speed.

So too noisy to work with- I can see why you've gone for water cooling - I'm asking because I've just started thinking about upgrading my machine and being a folder I want as many GPUs as possible and of course this means them being stuck together like your setup

Thanks for your prompt reply

Can you use riser cards to separate them out - will need a bit of case moding but might work.

I know Mcubed do them but there must be others in the HTPC market

Just had a google and there are flexable 16x ones for half the price of the Mcubed static ones

how about the Accelero XTREME GTX 280 after market cooler - fits 260, 275, 280 or is this too big to fit in a double spaced slot?

What exactly can you run on the new graphic cards now?

The Folding @ Home project (amongst other projects) has a client that runs on the graphics card's GPU - because of the nature of the project the GPU's ability to process work units is far higher than CPUs

There are clients for both nVidia and ATI GPUs but at present nVidia's cuda technology makes them better cards for processing the Folding @ Home project data
