Hi Guys

I recentley bought some denso iridium for my Racing Puma and once they were installed i noticed they were really really good. Noticed the car started better and just felt that little more "sharp"

Unfortantley the Hego sensor gave up the ghost which ment my car overfueled quite badly. So anyway i took it to my local RS dealership and he replaced my hego , put some motorcraft plugs in and it was all running fantastic. So anyway this is the bit i need your help on , all the plugs look fine but there all black ( as expected ) ive been told that i can clean them up and reuse them but i wanted to check on what your thoughts are. They did about 200 miles and cost me around £45 so i really want to pop them back in.

Heres a pic -

It looks like the thread is mashed but its not , thats just some kind of special grease

heres 2 of the tips, they all look like this close up

Is it just going to be a case of

A. Wacking them in , letting them get nice and hot so they burn all that crap off

B. Take a wire brush to them

C. Throw them away :(

TBH i cant see why i can just put them in , i meen its only a bit of black dust :p

Cheers Guys

Sam

Get a copper wire brush on them and they should be fine to reuse. Its only carbon deposits.

Try and use a tooth brush before you try a wire brush because if you scratch the electrodes you can cause tracking and loose some of the spark.

Yep, steel wire brushes aren't the best idea on spark plugs, it can leave small metalic traces on the porcelain insulator. A brass wire brush is a better idea.

Years back you could buy a special 12v powered sandblaster just for spark plugs, but not seen them for ages.

Toothbrush for the win. I've seen it recommended that you don't even regap these the normal way because of the extremely fine (iridium) tip.
BTW, that gap looks huge, what's recommended for your car?

Not Sure :(

As said above, they should be fine, as long as the electrode isn't burnt away (which by the looks of it, isn't). They should be fine if you put them back in. The things that muck up modern plugs is when they get covered in petrol, for example when a car floods.

You don't gap denson iridium plugs, I wouldn't try as you WILL damage them. They should be fine.

Good choice too, got some in mine and they're great, got mine cheap though - stuff played £10 per plug :o

My dad had one of these, looked like one of those desktop pencil sharpener. Pop the plug in, press the button and it sandblasts the plug tip.

Fantastic invention.
