FAO Gibbo - Intel E4300 ETA?

Gibbo, I dont suppose you know if OCUK will be getting these amazing little chips in?

I was thinking of grabbing one in place of an E6300, and then just waiting to the end of the year to grab a quad core.

I must say, OCUK CONTINUE to....

Impress Me. I think I will leave the system I was going to buy on hold for a few weeks then, was going to buy it next week, but will probablly wait till start of feb time, that way at the least I can have the money to get hte 8800 GTS, and get one of these beauties

Pricing is so so, am hoping with time it might improve by about £5-£10.

This makes buying any of the Allendale chips a bit pointless at the minute doesn't it as bassically they're being upgraded to Conroe and another chip taking their place. Hmm, will these newer E6320 be better again at overclocking?

4300 just went up for £100, not much of a saving over the 6300 but hopefully as Gibbo said they will go down a bit.

If they go down to about 99 or something I will grab one, otherwise I don't see the point in the 4300 and will probablly get the 6300 instead.

BUT they are only pre-order, hopefully they will go down

The advantages this has over the 6300 is a x9 multi instead of x7 on 6300, same cache, so basically they should over clock far far better than a 6300.

Pretty much the same clock speeds at stock, just means like for me to hit 2.8 i need 400x7 to reach it on me 6300, on one of those you wouldn't need such fast ram , for example the same on the 4300 400x9 would hit 3600 effectively, to hit 2.8 you would only need 310x9 ish.

I guess that the lower FSB of the CPU means nothing then? because you are overclocking?

So tempted to upgrade my rig to a little Micro ATX Core 2 Duo system.

Managed to spec this little lot:

Not sure. I was reading in one of the reviews that the E6320 with 4MB cache will be replacing the 2MB cache E6300 at exactly the same price.

Another significant update coming in Q2 is that the low end 6000 series Core 2 Duo processors will receive 4MB L2 caches like their more expensive brethren. Currently the E6300 and E6400 both have 2MB L2s, but both chips will be replaced by 4MB versions - the E6320 and E6420 respectively. Clock speeds and other details won’t change, but performance will obviously increase. The best part of it all is that pricing won’t change either, so if you’re contemplating buying an E6300 or E6400 you’d be better off waiting a quarter so you can get the extra cache for free.

When is Q2? Was looking at buying a E6300 in the next couple of week for my new system, but if the E6320 are going to be out fairly soon then i may as well wait.
