FAO humbug

what should i be aiming for when oc my 7870's

A named dedicated question, why thank you :)

Whatever you can get out of it on stock volts if you not overvolting, and whatever you can get out of it with 1.25v or less for 24/7 use.

1150 is perfectly fine, 1200 is good, 1250 is really good and personally i wouldn't run it any higher than that 24/7 even if it seems fine, there is a limit to how much overclocking you can do for long term use, 25% on a GPU would be my absolute limit, i would probably not go over 20% if i wanted it to last for several years.

I can write a whole guide for you later on (a bit busy at the mo), and would be happy to. :)

There are a lot of members around here who know a lot about overclocking GPU's of all kinds.

Edi- Keep your eye on temps while your experimenting, it should never go over 70c, and, don't use Furmark or MSI Kombustor < same thing, ever! :)

Haha I found out about Kombustor the hard way :D Had to lower the memory clocks afterwards by 30% to stop artifacting.

with my 2 cards in heaven i get gpu 2 withh 99% usage while gpu 1 hovers about 80% and cpu usage is roundabout 60-70% which mibbe explains my low score

My cards are running at 1200 core but not sure what to aim for on the memory. My score was about 2550 but apparently should be reaching the 3k mark.

Just posted in your other thread but what CPU and clocks are you running on it. For heaven you need high CPU clock speed.

What score for a single GPU do you get Humbug? Maybe my expectations were too high.

The Memory IC's on 7850/70's are rated for 1250Mhz, you should be able to get them as high as 1500Mhz, perhaps a little higher if your lucky with them.

I run mine at 1450Mhz for 24/7 use.

What CPU do you have?

hmmmm strange you can only get your memory to 1450 when mine is 1500 standard. also how do i go about installing ccc as i deleted all drivers etc now i cant enable xfire

Ah... yes of course, you have the 7870 Tahiti XT?

Yours has over 1500 Stream Proccesors and the Memory IC's are rated for 1500Mhz.

Its faster than my 7870, i only have 1280 SP's and that 1250Mhz rated Memory, you should be able to get 1700Mhz out of your memory.

Run this to clear out what is left of those Drivers, if anything.

And get the new Drivers from here... http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
